My Awesome Green Job!

Hello and I hope this finds you well!

I’m a fairly private kind of person and not used to putting myself “out there”, so I’m a little uncomfortable sharing my story. Please remember that I’m not a professional writer (just ask my old High School English teacher!) and forgive me if I missed any spelling or grammar errors in my blog.

Having said all that, I decided to share my story because I think it’s an important one. Like a lot of you, I care deeply for our environment. I believe we are doing irreversible harm to our one-and-only Earth and we are running out of time. If we don’t make basic changes in how we live right now, it will soon be too late.

So, I made a bold decision a few months ago. In the spirit of living what I preach, I decided to go green with my career. I didn’t know exactly how, or where I would get a new green job - I just knew I deeply wanted a green job.

I don’t want to put you to sleep with all the boring details of my green job search - I’ll just jump to the exciting end. I found an amazing new green career that I can be proud of, that is in huge demand (and is going to grow massively over the next many years) and the best part is that it pays very, very well. That’s what I call a win / win /win!

You’ve probably been hearing a lot about President Obama’s upcoming “Cap & Trade” legislation that is finally going to make American business pay for their carbon footprint. An essential part of that law is the trading of carbon credits. Trading carbon credits is a vital part of helping companies follow this new legislation and that is where the job of carbon brokering comes in to play. This is an entirely new green job that will be in demand for decades to come!

The amount of success that some of these people are experiencing is just amazing. I don’t know if I’ll ever make as much money trading carbon credits as some of these people (and I’m not even sure that I would want to) but I do enjoy being able to provide for my family while living out my green ideals.
